Based in Garden Grove, SAP-VN established the SAP-VN San Diego Chapter to extend their local community outreach to the vulnerable populations of San Diego. Each first Saturday of the month, we provide care packages with basic necessities, along with the Help the Homeless nonprofit, to underserved people in San Diego. Especially during an unprecedented time like this, the homeless population are among the most vulnerable due to unsanitary living conditions, no access to facilities, financial instability, and much more. Ultimately, SAP-VN San Diego Chapter will foster a community that believes in supporting our chapter’s cause to empower underrepresented minoritized populations locally in San Diego and abroad in Vietnam.

We believe that every human should be able to live with dignity.

Through monthly service projects, we aim to help provide the less privileged with basic necessities like food, water, hygiene supplies, and shelter. We strive, not only to share our resources but also to help others feel respected and welcomed into our community.

SAP-VN visits local nursing homes to sing on a regular basis as a way to get out into the community and spread the joy of music. Our goal is to share the beauty and comfort of live music with those who might not otherwise be able to experience it. By giving of our time, our music, and our company, we aim to provide our seniors with days filled with fun and laughter. Every holiday season we get together and sing songs themed around the holiday. We have been pleased with how healing the music has been for the seniors – and for us volunteers, too. Through our regular visits, we have created an atmosphere of caring and community.

The Rose Bridge project is SAP-VN’s latest collaboration with VSA-UCI Rose Pageant and Psychologist Dr. Suzie Xuyen Dong. Through the Rose Bridge project, we hope to bring awareness to the mental health struggles and generational disconnect that beset Vietnamese youths and their parents. Please find more information at sap-vn.org and stay tuned for our in-person event this coming December 2022.
